I believe that philanthropy is a moral obligation, and it should be for most people, especially rich people.  Of course, they shouldn't do it just to better their public image.  They should do it out of the kindness of their heart. Though it still does good, I wouldn't consider that philanthropy. Wealthier people have the money to give, and if they don't want to give money, they could always give their time.  They can't really ever say they don't have the time, because they can make the time, they're billionaires for crying out loud. No matter how much money is donated, it still does good, so when a wealthy person such as Bill Gates or Warren Buffet donates any amount of money to any organization or foundation, they should not be criticized. They should be praised.
