"Tiburco Vasquez Elemtentary" Think it has a nice ring to it? Think again.

There has been some controversy over choosing a name for the new elementary school in the Alisal Union School District in Salinas, California.  I honestly think its not a very good idea to name an elementary school after a dead criminal.  Mostly everybody thinks it's a bad idea, including Mayor Joe Gunter who says,"We had a young man killed in Afghanistan who was from the Alisal area.  He would have been a nice person to name the school after." I feel that when people find out exactly who the school they were looking at sending their kid(s) to, they wouldn't want to spend another minute thinking about their kid(s) going to that school.  After all, the school would be named  after a villain.  Mayor Gunter also says,"There's a lot of good people we could name the school after, in my opinion," and I agree with that.  There are too many important people in American history to name things after to be naming a school after a criminal.  To name a school after such a terrible man would be a little embarrassing to that school district, don't you think? Everybody has their oppinion, but naming a new elementary school after a 19th century criminal that was known as "a criminal who terrorized Southern California" probably isn't a very wise decision.
